October 10th 2016 Peñasco semana 1

Okay… this week… well basically I´m just getting to know my area. My companion Hermana Luna has been here for 3 months and is teaching me where everything is. Guaymas my other area before this one was a beach… but the streets were dirt. Here the streets are sand. I keep finding it everywhere!!!! Its super fun honestly!! When the street is hot and normally if it was regular pavement your shoes burn your feet but I think that its better with the sand… its a great blessing!!! We have some investigators who are really really cool!!! They are reading and praying… we are working on getting them in the church but its fun. Today one of the Sister missionaries also had a wedding with their investigators so… there will be a baptism this week. Its super touristic here… I haven´t heard or spoken this much english so much in such a long time!!! I don´t reallly like to speak english outside of… well anywhere besides here in internet writing to the family or skype… I literally never speak english. Okay that´s a lie last transfer there were 2 new missionaries from USA and I helped them with a couple of words. But seriously it has been super hard to speak english here. Um… yep. Nothing much in my life has changed. Its literally been the same for the last 14 months… so ya. I know that there are a lot of things happening right now in the normal life and that I´m living a little bit of a paradaise life. Literally all I do all day is search for more of my brothers and sisters to teach them the gospel of Jesus Christ. I hope that you can all remember the blessings that the gospel gives us. I know that the church is true. It is the only true church on the face of the earth: The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I hope you are all keeping the commandments of our Heavenly Father and seeing little miracles everyday. I love you all!!!

Hola mi familia!

Bueno esta semana fue tan rápido!!! No puedo creerlo!!!

Okay… where to start? Well we had bed bugs in our rooms so we rented a laundry machine and washed literally ALL OF OUR CLOTHES!!! While speaking on the subject of insects-critters unwanted. We had a rat a couple of weeks ago. Remember the hurricane that was super small just a ton of wind? Well a rat got into the house. I completely spaced to tell you guys. It was literally as bit as half of my forearm. SUPER BIG!!! You know what? I think it was bigger. My companion killed it. I held it down with a broom. She felt bad but the thing was super ugly!!! I have never had a rat in my house. We would hear stuff but never saw anything. That is until one day that it was in the room where we sleep. FYI the house is super super clean. But this one day my companion was eating a tamale in the room and we had to go to a meeting when we got back the rat was in the room and it was eating the tamale. So ya… food is not allowed in any other part of the house other than the kitchen… and where we study (sometimes). We took pictures… it was fun. I´ll send you one. So this week we washed all of our clothes. The house then ran out of water… its been super fun! But we worked our tails off… which was even more fun!! Rosa Isela fue a la capilla otra vez ayer!!! WOOOJOOO!!! Also an inactive member also went to church! I was so stinking excited to see her there. We have been working our tails off to help them out. However they will also be moving to Monterrey… so ya. That was sad. But we talked to her and she is super excited to come back to church and has a ton of plans. Also her daughter will be getting baptized in a couple of weeks there in Monterrey when they get there. There was a baptism this week as well. La familia Chiñas. They love me. Not quite sure why but they do… We also went to the Women´s Conference and that was fun as well and ya… EL FIN SE ACERCA!!! Y HAY POCO TIEMPO. DEBÉIS PUBLICAR LO QUE DIOS OS MANDÓ. But really though…it was super cool!!! We also had some pretty awesome lessons this week with Carolina and her husband Francisco. They have a lot of problems as a couple but we talked with them and they are willing to live the gospel and they now have a baptismal date. They really have changed a lot. They used to argue a ton and now they are really starting to listen and excercise patience with the other. Um… what else… um… I don´t really know… OH!!! Last week we had the Ward party for Independence day and we sang a song… it is called “La Barca de Guaymas” super pretty… and this week we had the stake party. Our ward sisters from the Relief Society danced and it was super pretty. Their skirts are so purdy with how they throw them back and forth… I loved it!!! We ate..and 4 investigators went to the party and they made some friends so that´s good as well. But ya… this week has been a little bit tight with all of the events and we´ve had to move a little bit fast. We´ll find out transfers this week so… I don´t know where I´ll go. We will probably find out in the middle of Conference of after on Saturday. So ya!!! I hope that you will all be able to watch conference… coming up next week your thoughts on it. I hope all is well and that you are all receiving blessings. Hermana Abanto says “Hello Family Ashby” as well as Hermana Ruíz. Les amo mucho! El Señor tiene muchas bendiciones preparadas para cada uno de ustedes. Solo esperen y ven los milagros que El Señor tiene preparados. Tengan una buena semana!!! Bye!!

September 19th 2016 Guaymas Barrio Bahía Semana 11

So I know that there are a lot of things that are going on right now. I know you are super stressed because I have known you for all of my life. I know how you act but you just need to breach in and out of your nose and mouth and trust in the Lord. I was reading my scriptures the other day about the Grace of Christ… I think that´s what its called. In 2 Nefi 25. I love this chapter because it talks about Christ and His atonement as well but also our part in the Atonement. I like probably more than ever 2 Nephi 25: 23-29. Super cool! I hope that you can remember that all we have to do is put in our 100% in and wherever that falls on the long line we call life that He can take care of the rest of the line. I hope that makes sense. I know you are working hard trying to help us out. You are an excellent mother. I love you so much and honestly don´t know what I would do without you. I am so grateful to have had you as my mother!! I hope the Lord can bless you and is helping you with the things you have going on right now and that you can be strong and trust in the Lord. He will help. I´m sorry for not helping out so much before. I am a rotten daughter!! Sorry!! Also sorry for taking out money but we had a hurricane and all of our food was lost and I had to buy some things. Sorry but I love you so much! I hope that you can remember that I love you and am so glad to have you as my mother. This computer is super super slow… so I will talk to you next week. If its anything of good news… (its kind of really sad) but I´ll be back in almost 4 months… so there ya go!!! I love you so much!! I hope that my work here can help you with everything there. I love you so much!!

September 12th 2016 Guaymas Barrio Bahía Semana 10

Well this week was super interesting!!!

I had never been in a hurricane… until now. Super fun!!! It wasn´t too big. Just A LOT of wind, but not a ton of water. However Guaymas isn´t completely built for hurricane… which is a little weird because my area has a lot of beach. So some people lost a lot of houses. We were in companion exchanges during the hurricane and I was with Hermana Ylst. She´s from Utah… it was so stinking weird to talk a little bit of ingles with her. I´ve never had companion exchanges with someone from the USA. We were doing good with just talking in Spanish like normal until around 5pm when the winds picked up and it started raining harder. She had never been in one either so we were completely intruiged with… well… EVERYTHING! We were lucky because this new house that we moved into doesn´t have anyway of the rain falling into the house despite the fact that we live on a hill. Other missionaries had a lot of problems with their houses. We just had problems with the wind in the other room that we don´t use. One day I will tell you about it… SUPER FUN!!! But ya. The next day we were cleared to work and we had a lot of service to do!! It was fun to see people open their hearts a little bit more and accept help from us and from others. It was fun to see them work together as well. You know how in the scriptures that it says that the Lord blesses us with trials to make us more humble and recognize the hand of the Lord? This scriptural truth was very prevelant in this week. After the hurricane we had a conference with Presidente Robinson and we learned a ton as well. We talked about working members with missionaries. The work of souls is not only a job for the missionaries and when the missionaries are involved there are more baptisms and success in areas and wards. He also focused on teaching us about the Atonement.. 🎶 Ahhhhh… (angelic ahhhhh) 🎶 I love to talk about the Atonement! He talked about faith and the grace of the Atonement, or the Grace of Christ. IT WAS AWESOME!!! I learned a ton! I honestly love the conferences with Presidente. Son los mejores días del cambio! So ya… that was practically all of this week. We´re doing pretty good with everything. Still busting our tails so that someone goes to church but ya. That´s life. We have found a bunch of new investigators and I´m super excited to see them progress. Please pray for the people of Guaymas. With the hurricane they´re a little bit more open to listen to the gospel but have many needs. Please pray for them to progress in the gospel and to attend church!!! But that´s our life here… how are things over there? Whatcha been doin? How are you all? Are you well in health? Work? You bought a new car? are the pictures? I would love to see them… more pictures of your faces… but the car too!!! I love you all and hope and with and pray that you all have a wonderful week!!! Bye!! Until next week!!

Hola mi hermosa familia!!!

This week was super super cool!! The Seventy of the Area came to speak to us and it was super super cool!!! I learned a ton! Sorry I don´t have a ton of time to write (like usual) we had a bit of a rocky time working this week but I think we´ll be good. No one is going to church! We need prayers and a ton of faith. We are getting to the point where we might have to stop seeing some of the people and searching for others. I don´t like to dejar las personas. Pero es que tenemos que hacer para encontrar los escogidos. I know that the Lord will provide. This week was a week of much faith. Honestly I´m kind of tired. But I know that things will be getting better. People to pray for if you can!!

These people need many many blessings. More than anything is that they can go to church this week!!! We are trying so stinking hard. They need so many blessings from the Gospel of Jesus Christ. However it is difficult if they don´t allow the gospel to help them. I´ve seen in the mission people that change their lives COMPLETELY around. I know the gospel can do if they would just act. However I know that there are many people that are waiting for the gospel so if these people are not ready its okay because one day I hope they will be. Because there are so many blessings they are missing because they are not obeying the commandments of the Lord. I know that when we obey the mandamientos that the Lord can bless us. We are truly happy. All other difficulties wither away and nothing can bring us down completely. BUT ONLY WHEN WE OBEY WITH EXACTNESS!!! I know that to be true. I gotta go but I´m praying for you as always. I hope that you are also serving the Lord. Be good and make right choices!!!

August 29th 2016 Guaymas Barrio Bahía Semana 8

Hello familia!!!

Well this week was super awesome we found a ton of people and more than half of them said they would come to church this week… they didn´t but that´s okay!!! Happy Birthday Grandma !! Did you know that there is a Grandparent´s day?? HAPPY GRANDPARENTS DAY!!!! Ya… so not many people went to church because they were in fiestas todo el día!!! Sad day. But the new people we found are so stinking cool that I am too excited to be sad. But we were sad when no one came to church. However I am learning a lot with my companion. She is rather new but is super wise… she has a “wise soul” I think you say that… right? But it really has been super super cool!!! We found people that had questions about the Bible and want to know something that I love about the Bible is that is supports the Book of Mormon and the Boook of Mormon for the Bible. Its always interesting to see the attitude of people change when they recognize the truth. The gospel honestly makes sense. We just need to have the patience to see the relacions between the truths. (I hope that makes sense!!) We also will be having a visit from the Area Seventy this week so we will be going to Hermosillo to a conference with him. I´m super excited!!! We have also had so many blessings this week that I don´t really have time to share… maybe I should start writing in my journal… sorry for being terrible at writing. I think I´m going to write actual letters because that seems to be easier. But… ya! That´s all!! I hope that all is well and that the Lord is blessing you all!! I know that the gospel is true and that blessings are coming if we will just be patient and work with the Lord, He will help us… with EVERYTHING that we have!!! There is such a peace from the gospel. I know that to be true. I love you all!!! Be good and make right choices!!!

August 8th 2016 Guaymas Barrio Bahía Semana 5

Okay… esta semana…

This week was long… sort of. Or at least yesterday was super long. We had an alert that we couldn´t leave the house because of the UV Rays… did you know they give skin cancer? So… we studied… for 8 hours… super fun!! But what was more fun was when we finally got to go OUTSIDE!!! (That´s from a movie… not quite sure which but its from a movie) Wooojoooo!!!! So last week I was with Hermana Sotelo until Thursday night when she was released as being a missionary 😥😥 and Hermana Ayon was set apart to be a missionary for 2 1-2 weeks and as my companion 🙌👏😁😀!! So it has been an interesting life these past 5 semanas. SUPER WEIRD!!! We have been searching all this time for new investigadores. Its been a blast!! Summer blast! A lot of people are gone for vacation or are going out of town so its been a little bit difficult but we´re having fun contacting people!!! My companions are learning a lot… a little bit tired… but learning super quickly!! I´m having fun watching them grow. There have been a lot of changes in the mission with the way that we are working so we put an cita and if they are not there or the cita falls we go and contact people!! I honestly love to see them change tan rapidly. It just goes to show that the mission really does change people… there is something different. I love to be here and really live the gospel. I am so grateful for this opportunity that I have to be here. I know that things are changing… A LOT there at home and even though I miss you guys I hope that you are also seeing the blessings that the Lord has in store for us. I know that the gospel is true and even though the heat is SUPER SUPER SUPER STRONG… (FYI I will be coming home with skin cancer I´m sure… it shows up in 30 años… so 29) I know that there are people waiting for the gospel. I know there are always people looking to our examples… people that are waiting for the blessings in their lives that sometimes we take for granted. I am grateful to have you my family. I am grateful to have the gospel in my life… thanks to the gospel I know who I am and who everyone else is as well. I am here to serve my Heavenly Father… because I love Him I am here to help my brothers and sisters here in Sonora to know of their potential and invite them to participate in the fullness of the gospel to receive all the blessings He has in store for them. Thank you as always for letting me be here… sorry if my letters are short… but honestly it takes me an hour and a half to remember how to write… so SORRY!!! But I love you all!!! Be good and make right choices!!!

Hermana Ashby

P.S. Colton, Michaela and Aaron… Repent all ye!!! AND WRITE YOUR BIG SISTER ABOUT YOUR LIVES!!! I love to hear from you… I love you all!!!
