This week has truly been crazy! Firstly after writing en Lunes last week en the night we found 2 cockroaches!!! Entonces… my companion thought it would be smart to spray them with cockroach spray in the night. We sprayed the whole house with the spray that is meant for outside… we couldn´t breathe. We did all of our planning and everything outside where I got eaten alive by mosquitos! It was either let them eat me or die!!! I´ll send pics… my legs are really really really bad!!
Pero, last night was really cool because we were in the middle of a lesson with one of our investigators when her family came in that is living in another area. We invited them to baptism and they accepted!! The Spirit was seriously so strong!!! The family is in los elderes de la zona… so they have new investigators!!! So cool RIGHT???? We had a zone conference with Presidente Robinson this week also. IT WAS SOOO GOOD!!! I learned a ton! The Lord is seriously so so kind to us. We had a fast as a mission this week also and I think that had to do with the awesome lesson yesterday also. I´m learning of patience and obedience this week. It´s interesting because I was searching for scriptures about obedience and found one in 1 Samuel 15:22… ¨Behold to obey is better than sacrifice¨ I thought this was interesting and have been thinking about this a lot! Sacrifice is good but without purpose there is well… no purpose. Obedience sometimes entails sacrifice but obedience is better and brings more blessings. The Sprit is much more strong with us and can testify for our safety, give peace and comfort and we can receive answers to our questions if we are obedient to the commandments. I love this sooo much!!! I am so grateful for you and for your thoughts and prayers. Mom if you could ya please send me the talks because I don´t have a ton of time!!! I loved conference and Dallin H. Oaks tambien!!! I miss you guys so much but I really do love this work! I´m sorry not a ton of information… the pictures are the rice I told you about last week, and the others are my legs and one of us waiting outside for 2 hours.
Hola mi familia!
Pues… Esta semana fue muy interesante! We were helping a lady in our Rama that has a lot of pain with things and 2 weeks ago, I made a hot pad thing for her (just rice in a sock and then cook in the microwave for one and a half minutes). WELL… this week we were helping her with some stuff in her house and she asked for us to show her how to do the rice hot pad thing again. My companion took it and put it in the microwave for THREE MINUTES and well… hopefully she likes burnt rice as well as burnt socks????? We were sitting in her living room and smelled “something” and then smoke started coming from the microwave. Don’t worry, nothing was damaged and everyone is safe but it was so funny because right before Hermana en the rama said she loved the heat and helped with her pain… after sh e saw the burnt rice she said “maybe a little bit less heat?” IT WAS SOOO FUNNY!!!! I have pictures but this computer isn´t working with my camera. Next week I´ll send them.
We are preparing for the baptism of Armando!!! Sometimes its hard because there are so many questions that he has and we don’t always have time to answer all of them. But he feels the spirit and knows that he needs to be baptized. While we cannot answer all of his answers we stress the importance of prayer and searching and studying the scriptures.
2 Nephi 2:33
“Angels speak by the power of the Holy Ghost; wherefore, they speak the words of Christ. Wherefore, I said unto you, feast upon the words of Christ; for behold, the words of Christ will tell you all things what ye should do.”
This week I’ve been learning the importance of studying and organizing ourselves towards His will and His purpose. Also about patience with ourselves and with others. What’s that saying? “Respect the process” Learning and living is A PROCESS!! Living and upholding gospel principles is a process, learning who we are and what it truly means to be children of God is also a process. EVERYTHING IS A PROCESS!!! Sometimes it is frustrating because we want to know everything right now. We don’t want the trials, we don’t want to have to sit through the “lesson of life” but we want the final test results. This week I was reminded that we chose this… we chose to experience and learn in this manner. Because we are here with bodies, we know that we chose righteously. However sometimes life brings trials and burdens, hard times and traumatizing times. However it is important to remember that “all these things shall give thee experience, and shall be for thy good” (D&C 122:7).
The people here are amazing. I am slowly but surely gaining more confidence in the language. Sometimes its difficult but I am knowing my Savior more tenderly than ever before. I am so grateful for this opportunity to serve Him and know of His plan for me. I know that I can’t completely understand everything in everyone’s lives that I will meet here in the mission. But I know that the Savior does. He understands us more than anyone else. He is our Rock, He is the reason for all. It is because of Him that we are here and have a place to go after this life. When we feel depressed or when we feel alone, when we feel there is no one that could possibly understand our situation or know how we feel remember that HE DOES! There is not anything we cannot say in our prayers that He does not understand. And as we pray with a sincere heart He will provide comfort and relief. He will take care of things… we just need to allow Him to…
I love you all and pray for you all and hope that you can feel and see the miracles of this Gospel!!
WITH MUCH LOVE!!!
Hola mi Familia!!!
I miss you all so much but so much has happened this week we have had so many people to see. We also have 2 new investigators! Panky and Dolores (I honestly am not quite sure if that’s how you spell their names!) I am so exhausted but feel so great! Like I’ve said before the people here are seriously the best! So sweet and sincere! The food is also really good! However I am still getting accustomed to it. I love the taste but like 2-3 hours after eating it, my stomach isn’t quite as happy which is AWESOME! The language is still a struggle. I accidentally told my companion that I wanted to kill her????!!!! I am learning… siempre!
HOW DID Y’ALL LIKE CONFERENCE?!?!?!?!?!?!!? IT WAS SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO GOOD! I really really like the new apostles! My favorite talks were… Elder Lawrence, Elder Hales and Elder Runland. What were your thoughts??? I left my journal a la casa. But I really liked Elder Nelson’s “Äre you done crying??” Sometimes the best things we can do is to learn from our mistakes, get back to work and allow the Atonement of Jesus Christ to change us. It’s probably one of the hardest things we have to do. Is LET IT GO!!!
I love it here. Sometimes it is difficult and I feel like I’m completely alone because of the language barrier, but the Lord has been kind. He has given me sweet tender mercies in my life where He has shown His love for me. I am so grateful for the opportunity to be here. I am grateful for the Savior and His willingness to change my life and make me more like Him. I am grateful for you my family and friends, my companions, the people here in Caborca and My Savior Jesus Christ. Thank you all for helping to change my life!!!
Con mucho Amor,
